In the 8th month of the year i.e. August, the government took a decision in the interest of patients and banned 156 fixed dose combination (FDC) medicines. The government said that the use of these medicines can be dangerous. Therefore there will be a ban on them across the country.

This decision of the government surprised everyone as to how such medicines could harm their health. Let us tell you that the medicines made by mixing more than one medicine in a single pill are called fixed dose combination drugs. These are also called cocktail drugs. Medicines to be discontinued in 2024

1. Medicines for pain and fever

Paracetamol and mefenic acid combination medicines have been discontinued. These include medicines used in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and period pain.

2. Medicines for urine infection

The combination of ofloxacin and Flavojet is used to kill bacteria in urinary tract infections. Now these medicines will not be available in the market.

3. Medicines for female infertility

A medicine is made from clomiphene and acetylcysteine, which was sold under many names in the market. This medicine was used for infertility in women.

4. Brain enhancing drugs

Many combination medicines that sharpen the brain have been banned. These include the combination of Ginkgo Biloba, Piracetam and Vinpocetine. Apart from this, the combination medicine of Nicergoline and Vinpocetine has been discontinued.

5. Eye medicine

Combinations of many medicines have been banned for many diseases like eye infections. These include naphazoline+chlorpheniramine maleate, phenylephrine+hydroxypropylmethylcellulose+boric acid+menthol+camphor combination medicines. Chlorpheniramine maleate + sodium chloride + boric acid + tetrahydrozoline has also been banned.

6. Medicines for stomach ache, acidity and vomiting

Many medicines for stomach ache, acidity and vomiting have also been banned. These include medicines made by mixing sucralfate-domperidone, medicines made by mixing domperidone and sucralfate, sucralfate, pantoprazole, zinc and magnesium carbonate.

7. Diabetes medicines

The combination of metformin + ursodeoxycholic acid has been banned for diabetic patients suffering from fatty liver. This medicine is no longer available.

8. Medicines for acne and pimples

Azithromycin and adapalene combination medicines have been banned. These also include clindamycin + zinc acetate, which are considered quite harmful.

9. Itch medicine

Itching medicines combination of fluocinolone acetonide + gentamicin + miconazole, combination of clotrimazole + miconazole + tinidazole have been banned.

10. Medicines for hair fall

There are many types of medicines available in the market for hair loss, many of which have now been banned. The combination of minoxidil + aminexil or the combination of minoxidil + azelaic acid + tretinoin is no longer available.

11. Medicines to increase sex capacity

The combination of Sildenafil Citrate + Papaverine + L-Arginine is now completely banned. It was used to treat erectile dysfunction or to increase sex power.

12. Soap and aftershave lotion

Such soaps which were made by mixing aloe vera and vitamin E, will no longer be able to be used. Apart from this, the wound healing combination medicines Metronidazole + Povidone Iodine + Aloe Vera have also been stopped. Aftershave made using menthol and aloe vera has also been banned.
